I was once where you are now...
I'm Revital Carroll, and I'm grateful to be here as your Odissi Dance Instructor. I didn't grow up India, yet from childhood I was drawn to the study of Indian spiritual arts. As life goes, the study and practice of yoga and meditation weaved a path that eventually led me to discover my passion for Indian Dance.
Like you, I too felt called to learn this beautiful dance form and craved the feeling of embodying my goddess. I feel alive dancing Odissi, the sensual and the spiritual expressing as one!
Since 1996, I've been blessed to learn with some of the most eminent dance gurus on the subcontinent. That includes studying Odissi in its birthplace of Odisha, India.
Today, I come to you as an internationally acclaimed performer and teacher of Classical Indian Dance. I'm the founder of Shakti Bhakti School of Dance, author of the award-winning Mudras of India paperback and the Mudras of Indian Dance Card Deck, and creator of several instructional DVDs.
And, I'm here to bring you with me on this wildly beautiful Odissi journey!

COURSE NUMBER ONE: INTRO TO ODISSI
Includes an introduction to the history, culture, and rhythm of Odissi dance. As well as an introduction to Mudras, the head, neck, and eye movements of Odissi, and the basic positions.
COURSE NUMBER TWO: ODISSI DANCE FOUNDATIONS
Begin with an introduction to the foundations, progress to a Preparation Set (warmup) you can repeat any time you need to warm up, then keep it flowing with an introduction to the Foot Positions of Odissi, Hand Mudras, and in-depth practice and instruction of all 10 Chauka Steps, and 10 Tribhangi Steps.
COURSE NUMBER THREE: WALKS OF ODISSI DANCE
Learn to walk with grace! Here you'll find all the types of walks and transitional steps (chairs) of Odissi, with several variations of each type.
COURSE NUMBER FOUR: SPINS OF ODISSI DANCE
Master spinning and turning! Included here are all the types of spins and turns (bhramaris) of Odissi, with numerous variations of each type.
COURSE NUMBER FIVE: FOOT POSITIONS OF ODISSI DANCE
Learn all 36 foot positions of Odissi dance through an entry-level choreography that puts the positions into a rhythmical dance sequence.
Special Note: You learn so much more than "just" the foot positions in this course! To start, you will access warm-ups for your feet, learn about rhythm, and the perfect gateway to graduate from basics to choreography.
